Depuis 20 mois, le gouvernement israélien et les forces d’occupation mènent une campagne de génocide à Gaza, entrecoupée de destructions et d’accaparements de terres en Cisjordanie, au Liban et en Syrie. Désormais, Israël a cédé à son désir de longue date d’attaquer l’Iran, une nation de 92 millions d’habitants.
Israël affirme qu’il s’agissait d’une attaque préventive, un acte nécessaire d’autodéfense pour empêcher l’Iran de développer des armes nucléaires. Les conclusions des services de renseignement du département d’État américain contredisent catégoriquement cette affirmation. Alors qu’Israël qualifie l’Iran de menace nucléaire, il demeure le seul État du Moyen-Orient à posséder des armes nucléaires – non déclarées, non inspectées, et donc d’autant plus dangereuses.
Nous, groupes juifs de 19 pays, pensons que le Premier ministre israélien Netanyahu a agi pour détourner l’attention du génocide en cours à Gaza et des attaques et saisies de terres quotidiennes en Cisjordanie, et pour étendre la domination impériale d’Israël sur une plus grande partie du Moyen-Orient. Il cherche également à prolonger son propre pouvoir (et à échapper à la prison). Netanyahu souhaite depuis longtemps entraîner directement les États-Unis dans une guerre contre l’Iran. En fin de compte, il vise à renverser le gouvernement iranien, niant ainsi au peuple iranien le droit de choisir sa propre voie.
Peu avant d’attaquer l’Iran, l’armée israélienne (IDF) a pratiquement coupé les dernières communications de Gaza et imposé un siège total à la Cisjordanie. Heure après heure, elle poursuit le génocide dans l’ombre. Le 20 juin, Al Jazeera a compté plus de 170 Palestiniens tués à Gaza cette semaine, alors qu’ils tentaient d’obtenir la nourriture à laquelle ils ont droit.
Il est trop facile de ne condamner que Netanyahu, déjà jugé dans son propre pays et recherché à l’international pour crimes de génocide. Le problème est plus étendu. Cette série de crimes de guerre régionaux est inhérente à la logique du sionisme. Depuis 1947, le projet sioniste a systématiquement expulsé et assassiné des Palestiniens. Il poursuit l’expansion territoriale et la domination régionale, inspirées par l’impérialisme occidental, tout en se présentant comme une victime collective juive persécutée.
Le rôle d’Israël reste tributaire du soutien total – diplomatique, militaire et économique – des puissances occidentales. Donald Trump, toujours prompt à s’approprier la destruction, qualifie ouvertement l’attaque israélienne d’action menée par « nous ». Le chancelier allemand affirme qu’Israël « fait le sale boulot pour nous tous ».
Global Jews for Palestine rejette les atrocités d’Israël et son discours raciste. Cette souffrance et ce chaos grandissants continueront tant que tous les pays n’y mettront pas fin. Les gouvernements doivent cesser d’armer et de justifier les crimes d’Israël, et au contraire lui imposer des sanctions efficaces. Comme l’a conseillé la plus haute juridiction mondiale, nous appelons nos gouvernements à mettre fin à ce désastre par la seule voie possible : cessez-le-feu, responsabilité, et justice pour assurer le droit du peuple palestinien à l’autodétermination.
Nous, Juifs du monde entier, exhortons tous les gouvernements à abandonner le projet sioniste raciste et irresponsable et à choisir la justice. Nous nous engageons à poursuivre et à intensifier nos efforts pour mettre fin à l’occupation, au génocide et aux actions militaires d’envergure qui menacent de nous engloutir tous.

Israel’s terrorist attack on Iran: for what?

For 20 months, Israel’s government and occupation forces have pursued a campaign of genocide in Gaza, interspersed with destruction and land grabs in the West Bank, Lebanon and Syria. Now Israel has indulged its long-held desire to attack Iran, a nation of 92 million people.
Israel claims that this was a pre-emptive attack, a necessary act of self-defence to prevent Iran from developing nuclear weapons. US State Department intelligence findings flatly contradict that claim. While it calls Iran a nuclear threat, Israel is the only Middle Eastern state with nuclear weapons – undeclared, uninspected, and therefore all the more dangerous.
We, Jewish groups in 19 countries, believe that Israel’s Prime Minister Netanyahu acted to divert attention from Israel’s ongoing genocide in Gaza and its daily attacks and land seizures in the West Bank, and to extend Israel’s imperial domination over more of the Middle East. He further seeks to extend his own rule (and evade jail). Netanyahu has long wanted to lure the US directly into war against Iran. Ultimately, he seeks to bring down the Iranian government, in denial of the right of the Iranian people to chart their own way forward.
Shortly before it attacked Iran, the IDF virtually cut Gaza’s last communications and imposed a complete siege on the West Bank. Hourly, it pursues genocide in darkness. On June 20, Al Jazeera counted over 170 Palestinians killed in Gaza this week, while they were trying to obtain the food that they have a right to obtain.
It is too easy to condemn only Netanyahu, who is already on trial domestically and wanted internationally for crimes of genocide. The problem is wider. This regional war-crime spree is inherent in the logic of Zionism. Since 1947, the Zionist project has systematically expelled and murdered Palestinians. It has pursued territorial expansion and regional domination inspired by Western imperialism, while claiming victimhood as a persecuted Jewish collective.
Israel’s role remains dependent on the full support – diplomatic, military and economic – of Western powers. Donald Trump, ever ready to claim destruction as his own, openly refers to Israel’s attack as an action ‘we’ undertook. The German Chancellor says that Israel is ‘doing dirty work for all of us.’
Global Jews for Palestine rejects Israel’s atrocities and its racist narrative. This widening suffering and chaos will continue until all countries make it end. Governments must cease arming and justifying Israel’s crimes, and instead they must impose effective sanctions on Israel. As the world’s highest court has advised, we call on our governments to stop normalising and start bringing this disaster to its only credible end: ceasefire, accountability, and justice which realises the right of the Palestinian people to self-determination.
We, Jews from around the world urge all governments to abandon the racist, reckless project of Zionism and start the urgent work of justice. We pledge to continue and intensify our efforts to end occupation, genocide and the wider military adventures which threaten to engulf us all.
